Summary:

Two projects that best show my understanding of Outcome 1 are my "Jump'n Jazz" and "Multicultural Music Madness" projects.

In  "Jump'n Jazz", I was asked to create a learning module to help students effectively learn.  To do this, I first evaluated my learners and developed an in-depth plan for how I was going to best impact their learning. This plan included the task of aligning standards and objectives to the assessment that would take place at the end of the unit.  I then tailored my instruction to the needs of my students and develped instructional methods using technology that would help them be successful. Following this research and development, I created a module where students would explore the history and sounds of jazz music.  While completing the module, students are asked to research, think critically, and create music.  Technology resources, such as Moodle, YouTube, PBCKids.org, and others are used in completing this project.

In the project "Multicultural Music Madness", I was asked to create a webquest that would meet the needs of a variety of student learning styles including visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile learners.  I also used a constructivist approach to learning in which students guided their own learning process at their own pace.

By considering all of my student's learning needs, researching the most effective design for my instruction, and integrating technology into a pre-established school curriculum, I was able to demonstrate Outcome 1.  Both of these projects use the entire instructional design method, embrace a variety of learning strategies, and show a great amount of technology integration.

Reflection:

These projects employed many elements of instructional design.  It was a great experience to be able to deeply analyze students and how they best learn.  It was also a good experience to spend quality time examining how my objectives were going to be assessed at the end of the project.
