Outcome 7

Articulates a vision for Instructional Technology that incorporates policy areas of: Access, Interoperability, Security, Jurisdiction of operation and supervision, and Maintenance and service.

Summary:

For my technology plan, I developed a plan for the East Stroudsburg Area School District.  During the creation of the technology plan, we were first asked to identify the characteristics of our organization.  The next step in creating our plan was looking for outside agencies who might benefit from this plan.  The interoperable nature of this portion of the project allowed me to look at my surrounding community outside of my organization to find resources that may not be available to me otherwise.  A budget was also required for this project, demonstrating an ability to supervise the spending of the technology department, and giving the department a vision of future needs.  A part of this plan also dealt with the security of maintaining technologies in the district and gives a clear outline for how technologies will be kept safe in the school buildings.

This project will benefit ESASD by providing a clear vision for what they want to accomplish, a plan for how to accomplish their goals, and a plan for how to reach out to other entities in the community of East Stroudsburg.

Reflection:

This project helped me realize that there is a lot more that goes into planning for technology than what people might normally think.  A lot of details need to be considered when creating a technology plan (e.g. money, benefits, outside venders, safety, security, etc.).  These are all things that a technology administrator is in charge of.  It really helped me to look at a school district from an administrator's point of view, and made me realize the importance of having a plan when implementing technology.
